About Me

I was an engineer full time and a photographer part time for approximately 30 years and recently decided to make the photography full time and the engineering part time. Because photography involves a great deal of physics and math, my engineering background (I have a master’s degree in engineering) serves me well. Many photographers really have a poor understanding of the technical basics of photography making their photographs problematic. To the contrary, I have a solid understanding of technology in general, and lighting, lenses, cameras and the other technical aspects of photography. I understand how to use multiple speed lights, and how and why to do key shifting. I can light the model perfectly in bright sun while keeping the sky blue! Not every professional has a clue as to how to make this happen. I understand the technical aspects of lenses, cameras, and the most important of all, lighting. The last company I worked for as a Senior Engineer had the word optics in their name. My photos and art speak for themselves—some of them are published here on MM. I have a complete studio at my disposal where I can shoot formal portraits, head shots, artistic nudes and so forth. Because I use speed lights for lighting, it is easy for me to pack up my gear to shoot on location. I recently shot super models Sam Sarpong and Deanna Waters on a location shoot. I have shot everything from product shots to artistic nudes. As an IstockPhoto contributor, I regularly shoot a verity of different topics and themes. I was part of a campaign shoot for a cancer hospital that will be used to raise money as well as providing some comfort for the children that are being treated for cancer.
I am a very accomplished engineer--I am the published author of an engineering textbook titled “Wideband Amplifier Design” and I hold a fair number of patents. My intent is to become as well known in the commercial and artistic photographic community as I am in the engineering community. And I usually succeed at what I set out to do. Feel free to Google my name.
If after seeing my port, you would like to shoot with me, please get in contact with me through MM.

Update: I just published my new book "The Ultimate Photography Textbook" on Amazon in both a soft cover as well as electronic download. Next fall, I am going to begin work on a new book on nude photography, but with a twist. I want to enlist one or more models as co-authors. They would of course be the models in the book. But they would also have the responsibility of telling what it is like to be a model, how they think they should be posed (with the results shown as a set of photos), What concerns them about being a nude model, and so forth. I am still developing ideas for this book. If you are interested, let me know.
